Is relevance still king?
Am I incorrect or have you started to notice true relevance in content taking a backseat to clever linking schemes?
As soon as I figure out how to set up a comment post with this blog tool I’d love to hear input on this subject.
Just so I’m not making wild claims let me throw out a particular example I’ve experienced recently.
My website, adamsouza.com is #1 on google for a keyword search of my name ‘adam souza’. Sometimes however my site drops entirely off the first 3 pages of google for no apparent reason other than what I see as a new amazon review by a different adam souza or a theater announcement regarding another adam souza participating in a play. I can only credit this phenomenon to link popularity as my site is all about me, all files are named with my name in the filename (ex. adam-souza-resume.html), all meta data contains my name and related name variations. Because I do not get a ton of traffic (personal portfolio site) and not linked from more than a dozen other sites I must get knocked out when an amazon posting is submitted using my name….does this instantly make me less relevant for my name? I don’t think so.
